Zero-Waste Creative Studio: Why it matters to us
If you talk with most creative makers that use fabric, they boarder on being hoarders of fabric. Why? Simple...fabric (especially right now) is not cheap. High quality, beautiful fabric...can be even more expensive.
So we attempt to find a use for every bit of fabric that we purchase.
When it comes to our Crowns and Wands, we use the extra faux leather (marine vinyl) from making Crowns to make our Wands. So you get a matching set, and we throw away very little fabric.
Same thing with our Felt Dress Up Masks...the leftover fabric from making masks gets turned into Finger Puppets.
When we began work on making our Zipper Bags, we found that there was always about 3" of fabric left over as we cut out the patterns for the bags. That may not sound like much...but to us...oh, we had to find a solution.
Our Bookmarks are always a fun purchase and we realized we had a simple square bookmark design that would work perfectly for this little bit of fabric leftover from making the Zipper Bags.
So here we are...having fun, creating and making exciting products...and still being a zero waste studio.
